I’m green-screening my icon for my VFX friends at Rhythm and Hues who just won the VFX Oscar for Life of Pi. Combined with their other nominee, Snow White and the Huntsman, their films grossed $1B+ worldwide.
And then they were laid off after weeks without pay.

Dreamworks artists were hit hard with the lay off but animation artists at Rhthym and Hues were hit even harder. I wish the best to the talented artists who lost their jobs even though they worked hard to create these Oscar nominated films.
I’m reblogging this not only to show my support, but also as a struggling VFX artist myself.
I’m not going to stop trying to get into the industry or creating, but it’s really disheartening to learn that I will be overworked, abused, and then tossed aside.
I really hope that everyone can research more about this, find out how Hollywood treats us artist, and help support not only veterans, but students, new graduates, and self starters.
No one deserves to give up on their dream.

It was the worst fucking decision, now instead of having people whose sole purpose was taking care of financial aid…..we now have people who have no idea what the fuck they are doing. Also real fucking professional leaving the office when there is a group of students waiting for you. And not telling people where you are and how to get in contact with you? Awesome. It’s not like us students have classes, or homework, or jobs. Nah we totally have time to cater to your schedule. Scad really needs to get off their asses and get their students services together. Cause I am paying way too much damn money to constantly get the run around from ill informed workers.
